The Spent Hopper is a great hopper pattern from late spring through the fall.
Tied in tan/brown, it mimics the natural grasshopper colors of many different grasshoppers throughout the United States. This is a great fly to fish for trout, panfish, and bass, but has also been known to pick up other species of river fish like channel catfish.
The Spent Hopper is tied in either size 10 hook or the larger size 6 to match the size of different species of grasshoppers everywhere, and still be effective for a wide range of target species.
